Inside the Oyster Perpetual 36.
Everything Rolex makes descends from the Oyster Perpetual: the first waterproof case in 1926, the first self-winding rotor in 1931. This is that watch with nothing added since.
The 126000 is 36 mm of Oystersteel, a smooth domed bezel and a dial with no window to interrupt it — and in 2020 that dial arrived in a turquoise lacquer that turned the most restrained reference in the range into its most talked about.
The calibre 3230 runs about seventy hours and asks nothing of the wearer. It is the entry to the collection and, for a certain kind of collector, the end of it.
