When the Submariner arrived in 1953 it was the first wristwatch guaranteed waterproof to 100 metres. Seventy years on it is less a tool than a constant — the watch a whole category is still measured against.
This is the 126610LN: a 41 mm Oystersteel case, a unidirectional black Cerachrom bezel with a 60-minute scale, and a black lacquer dial with Chromalight hour markers that glow long and blue in the dark.
Inside is the calibre 3235 — Rolex’s modern workhorse, with the high-efficiency Chronergy escapement and around seventy hours of autonomy. Waterproof to 300 metres, equally at home under a cuff.
